dingle! [day 4]

this morning we took a long drive along the coast of the dingle peninsula. beautiful doesn't even begin to describe it. we went to the western most point of the peninsula, which happens to be the western most point of europe. looking across the atlantic ocean, i could almost see boston. almost. we also saw some old ruins of churches and lookout towers, and even the place where some monks used to camp out. we took a walk on the cliffs along the water, and with the green hills behind me and the clear blue ocean in front, the sun shining on my face and the breeze stirring my hair, i would have been happy to freeze in that moment forever.
the furthest west you can go before the u.s.ofa.
lounging in the grass. taking in the view. loving life. you know...
here in dingle, the people speak gaelic (the irish language). we passed a sign on our drive that said "tog bog e" which means "take it easy." so that's just what we did this afternoon. once we got back from our scenic wanderings, we walked around and shopped in the little stores along the main road in town. wool is a big thing around here, what with all the sheep, so i got you a little woolen something, mom. get excited. after shopping, we saddled up some horses and rode through the hills, taking in more of the stunning views of the peninsula; i don't think my eyes could every grow tired of them.

my little guy and me. thanks for the ride, dubai.

tonight we went out for some more sea food, and out to the pubs for some live music and fun. they played "the galway girl" (the pub song from p.s. i love you) and we all sang along. such a great way to end our time here in dingle. tomorrow we're off to northern ireland. i don't know how much internet access i'll have for the next few days. but, as always, i'll try to blog again as soon as i can. until then, isle be seeing you...
